South Padre Island:
Open Daily (book online or call for reservations)
South Padre Island – Because SPI is SegValley’s Segway Tours headquarters, we offer a variety of tours! Riders can choose between our sightseeing tours which focus more on what you see, our riding tour which focuses more on a good fun Segway ride with some play time, or a combination of riding and sightseeing! SPI’s tour options are: the “Sandcastle South” tour, the “Sandcastle North” tour, the “Ride It!” tour, the “A Bit of Everything” tour, and the “Nature” tour.
The Combination tours are the “A Bit of Everything” tour and the “Nature” tour. These two tour options include sightseeing, riding, free time on the Segways, and are the only two tours that give you some time in the sand, either on the beach at the jetties, or on the flats by the convention center.
(Tour Guide Favorite #1) The “A Bit of Everything” tour lets you experience our off-road segways on pavement, grass, dirt, and sand! This tour is an optional upgrade to the “Ride It!” tour, travels the same route, but includes an additional 30 minutes of ride time, and an additional PLAY spot…THE BEACH! Only on THIS tour will you experience how our off road tires float on the sand, something very rare for a Segway Tour company in the US. Although riding the beach is an amazing experience, it can be difficult for some people, so we request that the 260 lb. weight limit recommendation for riders be observed. Ride length is approximately 1.5 hours, not including training, tour price is $85 per person.
The “Nature” tour at approximately 6 miles long, rides north on the island to the convention center. At the convention center, we disembark to take a stroll through the gardens and out on the board walk overlooking the Bay, where you’ll have a chance to see butterflies, birds, fish, plants, lizards, and if we are lucky, maybe even an alligator! After the nature walk, we get back on the segways for some play time in the convention center parking lot, and if conditions permit, we run around the hard packed sand of The Flats next to the parking lot. Ride length is approximately 1.5 hours, not including training, tour price is $85 per person.
The Riding tour, called the "Ride It!" tour, is a 7.2 mile loop that rides through the southern portion of South Padre Island. Although we do make a couple of sightseeing stops, this tour is for the riders who want to ride, ride, and ride some more! Along the 7 mile loop we see the largest permanent outdoor sandcastle in the US, test the off-road tires with free time at “The Donut Hole,” ride through the beautiful Isla Blanca Park located along the Island’s southern coastline (always keeping an eye out for dolphins playing in the bay), and make a stop at the “el cristo de los pescadores” monument. Ride length is approximately 1 hour, not including training, tour price is $65 per person.
The Sightseeing tours are the Sandcastle North and the Sandcastle South tours, which visit 10-14 sand sculptures built by the incredible sand artists that call SPI home. These sculptures are all located on the main road and its two side streets. Although you will definitely see castles, you’ll also see many sculptures that are not!
The Sandcastle South tour visit about 10 sand sculptures between our shop and the Visitor’s Center, where you’ll see the largest permanent outdoor sand sculpture in the US! Ride length is approximately 45 minutes, not including training, tour price is $45 per person.
(Tour Guide Favorite #2) The Sandcastle North tour visits about 14 sand sculptures between our shop and the Ramada Inn. This tour not only has more sand sculptures to see, it also has a bigger variety, including our tour guide favorites! If time permits, we do take a few minutes to test out the off-road tires in some dirt and grass along the way! Ride length is approximately 1 – 1:15 hours, not including training, tour price is $65 per person.
A full Sand Castle Trail tour is available by request, and visits about 21 of the 25 total sculptures that make up Sand Castle Trail. Ride length is approximately 2 hours, not including training, tour price is $105 per person.
